The Galaxy A31 was introduced by Samsung on March 24, 2020, and then on April 27, 2020, it was released to the global smartphone market in white, blue, red, and black colors with diagonal lines. On the other hand, the Galaxy M31 was unveiled a little earlier in February 2020 and went on sale on March 5, 2020, in limited blue, red, and plain black colors.

Samsung Galaxy M31 is a phone with a plastic body and frame, weighing 191 grams and measuring 159.2 x 75.1 x 8.9 mm. The Galaxy A31 comes with a plastic body and frame and a weight of 185 grams with dimensions of 159.3 x 73.1 x 8.6 mm. A comparison of the A31 with the M31 shows that in both of these phones, the power button and volume control are placed on the right side of the frame, as usual for Samsung phones.

On the other side of the frame, there is a dedicated microSD memory slot and a double nano SIM card slot. In the lower part of the frame, there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a charger port, and a speaker. Comparing the M31 with the A31 shows that both of these phones have a 6.5-inch wide glass screen on the front panel, with a teardrop-shaped selfie camera embedded in the upper part. The edges around this screen, except for the lower side, which is designed a bit wide, are all narrow and delicate and have greatly contributed to the integrity of the screen surface.

The main camera in this collection is a 48-megapixel wide lens with f/2.0 aperture, the second camera is an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens with f/2.2 aperture, the third camera is a 5-megapixel macro lens with f/2.4 aperture, and the fourth camera is a 5-megapixel Depth lens. On the other hand, the Galaxy M31 phone has four sensors that are embedded in an inverted L shape inside a rectangular frame. This set includes the first camera with 64-megapixel wide lens with f/1.8 aperture, the second camera with an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens with f/2.2 aperture, the third camera with a 5-megapixel macro lens with f/2.4 aperture, and the fourth camera with 5-megapixel lens. It is of the depth detection type with an aperture number of f/2.2.

Other camera features of these two mid-range phones include HDR and panorama imaging. In the selfie camera section, the specifications of the M31 phone include a 32-megapixel wide lens, while in the A31 phone, this is a 20-megapixel wide lens. Therefore, the comparison of the A31 with the M31 in the selfie camera section also shows that the Samsung M31 has better performance for taking portrait or selfie pictures.
