iPad 9^th Generation

The iPad 9 is very similar to its predecessor, with its sturdy frame, aluminum body and Touch ID home button. In fact, it is so similar that it even has the exact same weight and dimensions. Also, the colors of both iPads are similar and no changes have been made. Apple still chose to use its own Lightning port instead of switching to USB-C, which can now be used in the new iPad Air, iPad Pro and iPad Mini 6.

iPad 9 Screen

The iPad 9 screen has a size of 10.2 inches, which is 2160 x 1620 pixels with a pixel density of 264ppi and a brightness of 500 nits. In other words, this is the same screen that can be seen in the previous version. Like the 8th generation iPad, it uses a Retina display with True Tone added. This feature, found on higher-end iPads, uses an ambient light sensor to detect the light in your environment and adjust the display brightness accordingly.

The iPad Air 5 comes with a 10.9-inch screen, and the edges of the screen are slightly thicker than the 11-inch iPad Pro. You might say that these larger margins are not a big deal and really don’t have much of an impact. On the other hand, this margin provides more space to place the finger to rest or hold the tablet.

iPad Air 2022 comes in blue, purple, pink, silver and gray colors. The similarity of iPad Air 5 with other iPads means that it is compatible with most accessories of iPad Air 4 and iPad Pro 11 inches. These accessories include the excellent (and expensive) Magic Keyboard, which is loved by people who type a lot on their iPads. Also, the lighter and cheaper Folio keyboard.

Although some users were dissatisfied with the build quality of iPad Air 5, but in our opinion, its build quality is actually good. The use of glass and metal along with flat edges gives the device a beautiful appearance and easy portability.

At the bottom of the device there is the USB-C port and we are dealing with a dual speaker system. When you hold the iPad horizontally, the sound is stereo, but in vertical mode, the sound is played from the top and bottom.

As we mentioned above, iPad Air 5 does not use Face ID. Instead, a Touch ID scanner is embedded in the power button, just like what we saw in the iPad Air 4 and iPad Mini 6. Using Touch ID is simple and hassle-free.

iPad Air 5 Screen

There is no news of a refresh rate higher than 60 Hz in the iPad Air series. So, if you’re used to a smooth 120Hz screen, working with the iPad Air 5 will be a bit unusual for you. There is also no news of mini-LED technology in the screen. This feature is only available on the larger iPad Pro, and not even on the 11-inch iPad Pro M1.

However, Apple has used its own technology for the LCD panel. The iPad Air 5 looks great, with accurate colors, great brightness, and good clarity. It doesn’t seem that there has been any special change in the screen compared to the iPad Air 4.

With this screen also comes True Tone technology which is enabled by default and is better for the eyes. But if you are a graphic designer and color accuracy is important to you, you can turn it off.

If you just want to watch movies and videos, play games and generally use this product as an entertainment tablet, its screen will probably be able to meet your needs. Of course, we would have liked the use of mini-LED or AMOLED technology, which would have made the blacks more realistic, especially when watching movies in low light, but keep in mind that this is a mid-range tablet.
